A Little About Us
Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church with the concern of people’s needs at heart. We strive to reach lost people with the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our ministry is world wide through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. We help support 5,000 missionaries serving in 114 foreign countries, as well as 5,000 home missionaries serving within the United States.
Our Brief History
Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church was founded in 1854 through the efforts of William “Uncle Billy” Holly, his family and neighbors. The original site was on U.S. Government land which was sold in 1883. E.M. Henderson donated property on Mothershed Lake, now known as Church Lake, for the new home of the church. This is the present day location on Hwy 40 East, in Lynne. The name Ocklawaha Bridge may be confusing as the church is miles from the town of Ocklawaha as well as miles from a bridge. The 1854 location required a number of members to cross the only bridge across the Ocklawaha river to make their way to the church. We have retained the name given by those pioneers. An in depth history of the church is available digitally or in print. Please contact us for this information.
